Kindertransport tells the story of the child evacuees from Germany to England in the months leading up to the Second World War. Move forward to the 1980’s and we discover the subsequent story of one such evacuee and what happened following her new life in England. A powerful and emotional story of three generations of women.
The picture shows Gondwana Pietsch as Eva, the young Kindertansport child, with Matt O’Toole as The Ratcatcher, in rehearsal for the Richmond Shakespeare Society production of Kindertransport.
17 year old Gondwana has the difficult task of portraying her character at three different ages – 9, 13 and 17. Quite a challenge for any young actor while Matt has to prove his versatility by taking on 5 different male parts, the most sinister character being the scary Pied Piper-like Ratcatcher – definitely the stuff of nightmares!
